Existiu uma Brenda antes e depois de ler o "Design do dia a dia" de Donald A. Norman, que ainda nos primeiros anos da faculdade se apegou aos ensinamentos de um design belo e descomplicado. Costumava me divertir enxergando design em tudo, desde o formato da cadeira até a interface de jogos, e nessa infinidade de possibilidades que eu poderia seguir, me peguei pensando "como eu vou representar meu trabalho e meus gostos em uma única marca?"

There was a Brenda before and after reading Donald A. Norman's "The Design of Everyday Things", who in her early years at university clung to the teachings of beautiful and uncomplicated design. I used to have fun seeing design in everything, from the shape of a chair to the interface of games, and in this infinity of possibilities that I could pursue, I found myself thinking "how am I going to represent my work and my tastes in a single brand?"

Sou formada em Design com ênfase em interface digital, e atuo na área a 7 anos. Sou manauara, moro em Curitiba e atualmente tenho aprofundando meus estudos na área de produto. Depois de tanta experiência e amadurecimento, entre tentativas falhas de criação, entendi que eu não precisava entregar algo perfeito; eu só precisava fazer o que eu sempre fiz em meu processo criativo: brifar, pesquisar, definir e testar. Por isso, não apresento algo perfeito, e sim um design belo e descomplicado, simples e funcional como deve ser e cheio de referências.

I have a degree in Design with an emphasis on digital interface, and I've been working in this field for 7 years. I'm from Manaus, live in Curitiba, and am currently deepening my studies in the product area. After so much experience and maturing, between failed creative attempts, I understood that I didn't need to deliver something perfect; I just needed to do what I've always done in my creative process: brief, research, define and test. That's why I'm not presenting something perfect, but a beautiful and uncomplicated design, simple and functional as it should be, full of references that I have gathered throughout the years.

A principal exigência foi expressar meu estilo, meus trabalhos e meu processo de criação. Assim, clientes poderiam se conectar comigo mais facilmente a partir do visual. Então, rascunhando aqui e ali, notei que a forma como eu escrevo e faço desenhos tortos eram quase como minha digital. Por isso, juntamente a minha “comfort font”, Inter, que está presente em quase todos meus projetos base, acrescentei meu nome do jeito que escrevo, que não é nenhuma lettering, mas é “engraçadinho” (como minha mãe costuma dizer).

Creation
The main requirement in this project was to express my style, my work and my creative process. That way, clients would be able to connect with me more easily through the visuals. So, sketching here and there, I noticed that the way I write and make crooked drawings were almost like my fingerprint. So, along with my "comfort font", Inter, which is present in almost all my base projects, I added my name the way I write, which is not lettering at all, but is "funky" (as my mother used to say).

Em meu check-list, eu já havia escolhido a cor principal: precisava ser o meu verde, daqueles profundos que transmitem conforto e imensidão, como uma floresta; eu também precisava transmitir minha fase atual que está voltada a produtos digitais e tecnologia, então optei por compor a paleta com um verde mais iluminado, trazendo a harmonia entre minha estética pessoal e o meu trabalho.

In my checklist, I had already chosen the main color: it needed to be my green, one of those deep ones that convey comfort and immensity, like a forest; I also needed to convey my current phase, which is focused on digital products and technology, so I chose to compose the palette with a brighter green, bringing harmony between my personal aesthetic and my carreer.

Para terminar essa composição do que eu sou, trouxe uma simbologia regional, porque tenho orgulho de ter vindo da minha terrinha e não consigo me imaginar sem colocar meu ambiente de formação humana nessa identidade, trazendo a beleza que sempre admirei do artesanato indígena, em especial das joias de penas e miçangas feitas de sementes. Por isso, olhando para o meu brinco favorito, pensei que nele eu poderia me inspirar e trazer sua flor de penas impressa graficamente, surgindo assim a representação do asterisco que ajudou a criar a sensação de citação e abreviação do nome. O formato de "selo", arredondado, também vem do brinco, e me possibilitou criar a versão responsiva do logo.

To finish off this composition of who I am, I brought in some regional symbolism as I am proud of my homeland and can't imagine not putting the environment that had a major role in making me the person I am today into this identity, bringing in the beauty that I've always admired in indigenous handicrafts, especially the feather and bead jewelry made from seeds. So, looking at my favorite earring, I thought I could take inspiration from it and bring its feather flower graphically printed, thus coming up with the representation of the asterisk that helped create the feeling of quoting and abbreviating the name. The rounded "token" shape also comes from the earring, and enabled me to create the responsive version of the logo.
